Triple Talaq : A Patriarchal Nonsense

Whether or not Sunni Muslims in India can or should reform triple talaq has been a matter of intense debate in the community for nearly a century. Even their jurists believe that the Ahsan (best) method of divorce requires the husband to give a talaq to his wife in her tuhr, or menses-free time. He can withdraw the talaq during the iddat, or waiting period, which is of approximately three months. Should he not do so, divorce kicks in after the expiry of the iddat. However, the divorced couple can remarry at a future date, precisely why this talaq is called Ahsan.

A talaq is called Hasan (good) when the husband divorces his wife a second time, following the same procedure adopted in the first instance. Once again, the husband is permitted to withdraw the talaq before the period of iddat expires. Once again, the divorced couple can remarry in the future should they so wish.

However, a talaq given the third time dissolves the marriage forthwith. There is no waiting period, no room for reconciliation, and the divorce is irrevocable. The divorced couple can remarry only if the woman marries another man and who subsequently divorces her. This system of an intervening marriage before the triply divorced couple can remarry each other is called Halala.

The Halala system is often exploited to overcome the Islamic prescription prohibiting couples from remarrying after they have been divorced thrice. Typically, the ruse involves the triply divorced couple entering into an underhand agreement with another man who marries the woman and divorces her thereafter. She is then legally free to marry the man who had divorced her thrice previously.

It might seem amusing that a woman would wish to marry the husband who has divorced her thrice, but this is precisely where the harshness of the procedure which has the husband pronounce talaq thrice in one sitting is brought out vividly. Called Talaq-ul-Bidat, it is perhaps as old as Islam itself.

The All-India Muslim Personal Law Board has been mulishly opposed to abolishing triple talaq, which is a procedure a Muslim adopts to divorce his wife by pronouncing talaq three times in one sitting. Most recently, the AIMPLB has expressed disquiet over a petition requesting the Supreme Court to determine the constitutional validity of triple talaq.

The AIMPLB’s position is in sharp contrast to the dominant trend worldwide. As many as 22 Muslim countries – including Pakistan and Bangladesh – or their provinces have abolished triple talaq either explicitly or implicitly.

The argument that many Muslim religious leaders and followers are putting forward is that the government of India cannot interfere in the beliefs, laws and functioning of any religion or as the Muslim Personal Law Board stated in an affidavit to Supreme Court “Personal laws of a community or religion cannot be re-written in the name of social reform” is totally and completely baseless. Had the banning had anything to do with religion, the Islamic theocracies would not have banned it. So, why is it so difficult to understand that the privilege enjoyed by only Muslim men to give Talaq-e-bidat falls under the discriminatory and gender-biased practices and that going against such practice does not amount to blasphemy? This is a gender issue and not a religious one.

Philanderers using religion as a tool to defend this patriarchal nonsense. Some very shameful arguments against the banning of Talaq-e-bidat have been stated in the Supreme Court by the Muslim Personal Law Board. They said that if triple talaq is not allowed then a man could burn alive or murder his first wife in order to get rid of her and that “triple talaq ensures a lawfully wedded second wife instead of an illicit mistress.” This statement coming from them only serves to prove that the only reason such men do not want to abandon this law is because they want to continue their licentious and profligate habits and getting rid of them hurts!

It was a unanimous decision taken by around 91% of Muslim women in India who oppose and condemn this after having suffered over the years under the commonplace acceptance of patriarchy. They live in constant threat of being forsaken and thus, are always ready for terrible compromises. Instances have been recorded where women were divorced by their husbands on WhatsApp, on phone and even in their absence such that they didn’t even know that they have been divorced.

Triple Talaq was one of the burning and intense issue in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Whooping 300+ seats along with capturing few muslim populous areas like Deoband is signalling towards the end of talaq system.

The Court stated the following findings:

  • Nikah is based on offer and acceptance between man and woman. Unless both agree, there can’t be Nikah and on the same analogy, the declaration of talaq must be done in the presence of wife and only if both agree, talaq would be executed. In the disagreement, wife is left with the option to file the Regular suit for divorce where the court may accept or refuse the grant of talaq by looking into the grounds of both the parties.
  • The sweep of Article 14 and 21 of the Constitution covering rationality and fairness along with dignity and quality of life shall override the right conferred by Article 25 and 26 of the Constitution. A lady cannot be compelled to marry again to another person before marrying her husband again after talaq as a condition. It is humiliating and against the dignity of a lady.
  • In Muslim Law, marriage is a contract and Constitution of India doesn’t entitle the husband to rescind contract, orally, by notice or by ex parte decisions, hence seems to be unsustainable.
  • In appropriate case, a person may be charged under the Penal Code (supra) for abusing his position as husband whether it is for the purpose of divorce or remarriage.
  • The Collective Rights of the Citizens protected by the Part III of the Constitution may not be infringed under grab of the Personal Laws.
  • The declaration of the oral triple talaq by ex parte proceedings may not be given force by government machinery or the courts hen the subject matter being contrary to the constitutional ethos.
  • The Army Authorities ordered for the grant of maintenance to wife in pursuance to power conferred by Section 96 of the Army Act, 1954 read with Army Orders is perfectly within jurisdiction and calls for no interference.
  • Women of every religion of the country are protected by the Constitution of India. No one has right to go against it in the shadow of personal law.

One nation and one law should be implemented.

RSS : Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Sabha 2017

The Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) expresses grave concern over the unabated rise in violence by Jehadi elements in West Bengal, encouragement to the anti-national elements by the state government due to its Muslim vote bank politics and declining Hindu population in the state.

The attack and looting of the Kaliyachak Police Station (District Malda) which is just 8 Km inside the Bangladesh border, burning down of the crime record by the anti-national Jehadi elements and growing incidents of attack on security forces in the state are posing a serious challenge to national security and law and order. Fatwas inciting violence are openly being issued by fundamentalist Maulavis. Hindus are being attacked by fundamentalist elements at several places including Katwa, Kaligram, Ilambazar and Metiaburuj (Kolkata). Large number of Hindus are being forced to flee from the border areas under the pressure of fundamentalist forces. Smuggling of fake currency and cow progeny along with illegal migration are being perpetually encouraged by these very elements. During the investigation of Burdwan bomb blasts, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has found that several terror modules exist across the state and this network of Jehadi extremists is spread on both sides of the border.

Just when extremists, fomenting trouble in a planned manner, are being encouraged by giving ministerial berths and other prominent political and government positions, at the same time the State Government is creating obstacles in celebrating religious activities of the Hindu society. Sometime back, timings for the immersion of Maa Durga idols were unusually curtailed because of Muharram for which the State Government attracted strictures from the Kolkata High Court.

Several incidents of bomb blasts, arson, violence and molestation of women have been reported in the past few years. The worst sufferers of these atrocities on the Hindu society, have been the members of the Scheduled Castes. 6 persons from these communities were killed at Juranpur, Vaishnavnagar, Kharagpur and Mallarpur and during the last year’s Durga Puja, a 17 year old girl student from the same community was attacked with acid bulbs, who later succumbed to the injuries. At Dhulagadh, on 13-14 December 2016, Hindus were subjected to a preplanned attack resulting in horrid incidents of arson, looting and molestation of womenfolk. Instead of controlling the extremist elements, the State Government attempted to completely hide these incidents. It is shocking that cases were foisted against some impartial journalists who courageously brought the above heinous incidents to light.

While on one hand the State Government is threatening to close down the schools which are instilling the spirit of patriotism, on the other hand it is turning a blind eye towards thousands of institutions like the notorious Simulia madarsa where Jehadi and fundamentalist training is being imparted. Original Bangla words in the text books are being distorted under the influence of fundamentalist elements. At several places efforts are being made to stop the traditional Saraswati Puja in the educational institutions. The State Government is overlooking the attempts to islamise the schools like the pretext of observing Milad-Un-Nabi.

Last year, when the school administration refused the permission to observe Milad-un-Nabi, extremists took control of a 1750 students-strong higher secondary school at Tehatta, just 40 Km away from Kolkata, hoisted their flag and locked the lady teachers in a room. As a consequence, the school remained closed for a month.

At the time of partition, Hindu majority area of Bengal came into existence as West Bengal. Thereafter, due to the continuous persecution and atrocities in East Pakistan, present Bangladesh, large number of Hindus were forced to seek refuge in West Bengal. It is surprising that despite the large influx of Hindus displaced from Bangladesh to West Bengal, Hindu population of the state which constituted 78.45 % in 1951 has declined to 70.54% as per census of 2011. This is a matter of serious concern to the unity and integrity of the country.

The ABPS strongly condemns the extremist violence and the Muslim appeasement policy by the State Government and calls upon the countrymen to create awareness against this Jehadi violence and communal politics of the State Government. It also urges the media to present the prevalent grave situation before the country. The ABPS calls upon the State Government to rise above petty vote bank politics and discharge its constitutional obligations. The ABPS also urges the Union Government to ensure firm action against these anti national Jehadi elements of the state in the interest of national security.

The Traitors Of India

While studying Indian history in school days, one was repeatedly told that the foreign invaders resorted to ‘divide and rule’ policy to gain control over India. They were painted as unscrupulous schemers who exploited the simple, trusting and gullible Indians. It is only at a much later stage that one realised the hollowness of the above assertion. The truth is that we are adept at producing hordes of traitors who revel in India’s ruin. Every victory of the foreign invaders was facilitated by the local collaborators who betrayed their kings for some devious reward or to settle personal scores. No fort was ever conquered without the infidelity of a trusted minister/commander.

Unfortunately, centuries of slavery has taught us nothing. We carry on spawning throngs of people who can stoop down to any level (even imperil national security) for their petty gains. Our leaders, media and intellectuals appear to have a single point agenda: how to generate innovative issues to keep the nation divided and embroiled in petty bickering and internal dissentions; and thereby impede progress and bring a bad name to the country. They abhor India’s rise. Let me elucidate.

First, the leaders: They are the fountainhead of all fissiparous tendencies. For them, vote bank politics take precedence over everything else. One does not have to be a visionary to predict the danger of abetting illegal migration from Bangladesh for garnering votes. But unscrupulous political leaders carry on unconcerned.

One hangs one’s head in shame when political leaders extend their support to a delinquent student leader who seeks destruction of India. Comparing him with martyr Bhagat Singh is by far the most perfidious act.

Perhaps, India is the only country that has an ignominious track record of producing Home Ministers who reveled in shaming the country. One concocted theories of saffron terrorism to please his party bosses.

In so doing, he presented a convenient propaganda tool to Pakistan. Another Home Minister did the unthinkable. He declared a terrorist to be innocent in an affidavit to the court. The aim was to ensnare the opposition leaders in a false case. Sadly, India’s intelligence gathering apparatus suffered immense damage in the process. The world media flashes such headlines with sinister pleasure. India’s image takes a terrible beating. Just to score a brownie point against the government, he presents a convenient propaganda handle to the hostile forces. How low can a leader stoop!

Recently, a renowned advocate and a former law minister told a TV channel that shouting slogans for the destruction of the country is not debarred in the constitution. According to him, freedom of expression was of paramount importance. Even demand for secession (azadi) was justified. As the interview progressed, one was not only amazed by his perverted reasoning but also shocked to see the brazenness with which he was arguing. Survival of India appeared to be of no concern to him. One wondered if one was watching an Indian or a Pakistani channel.

Secondly, the media personnel: The less said the better. From their conduct, it appears that many of them are foreign plants and India means little to them. When a leading media house invited a vicious and remorseless enemy like General Pervez Musharraf and groveled before him, it marked the lowest depths of shamelessness to which journalism could sink. Instead of castigating him for the Kargil war, he was treated as a peace loving guest. Both the electronic and the print media never report ‘positives’ about the country. Ugly India sells (a la ‘Slumdog Millionaire’); and not progressive India. Remember how a TV reporter failed to digest the popularity of PM Narendra Modi in the US and tried to incite the crowd with provocative remarks. But then they get paid to demean India, and not to extol it. Immense damage is also being inflicted on the unity of the country by the media through its Machiavellian and skewed reporting.

Every news item is deliberately reported with a religious, caste or creed slant – ‘a dalit girl molested in a Delhi bus’ (as if other women are not molested in Delhi buses) or ‘church guard killed’ (in reality an argument between two security guards had turned violent) or ‘Muslim driver runs over a boy’ (as if his being a Muslim is of any relevance). Recently, in a case of cattle stealing, a leading newspaper could not resist the temptation to add that ‘one of the five thieves is learnt to have had connections with a cow protection group in the past’. How cunningly, a simply case of robbery was given a communal taint. Petty vandals are given the coverage befitting a mass leader. It was obnoxious to see two TV channels airing their interviews with a student leader charged with sedition. The worst was the indulgent demeanor of the TV anchors; as if a national hero was being eulogized. The interviews were repeatedly telecast at prime time. Did these channels think of interviewing war heroes or martyrs’ families? Forget it; that would have been a pro-India act and that is an act of sacrilege for them.

Thirdly, the self-proclaimed secular intelligentsia: It has done the maximum damage to India’s prestige and standing. Some of them appear to be fifth columnists masquerading as progressive intellectuals. In which country of the world would the intelligentsia write to the US government not to receive their Prime Minister?

Honestly, it is simply loathsome: duly elected representative of 1.25 billion Indians being subjected to indignities by a shameless bunch of foreign-educated and foreign-paid anti-national elements. Unfortunately, their protests get huge publicity abroad, thereby undermining all efforts to raise India’s standing in the world forum.

It can be said with certainty that the well-orchestrated campaign of intolerance was totally malicious in intent. The sole objective was to stall all progressive reforms by tarnishing the image of the government. How else can anti-nationalism be defined? As expected, having dented India’s reputation, sold-out media chose to ignore the true facts as they emerged. Hundreds of Christians, led by the church leaders, marched in protest on the roads of Delhi against the alleged vandalism of churches and a theft in a Christian school. Routine cases of petty crimes were cited to suggest an anti-minority conspiracy.

They ensured extensive coverage of their protests by the foreign and Indian media, thereby damaging India’s secular image. Foreign channels are only too eager to shame India. Unwisely, even Obama got carried away with his uncalled for advice, losing considerable goodwill in India. Reportedly, he said so on the prodding of an Indian leader, a la J-MJ.

Finally, soldiers and the national symbols: the national flag, the national anthem and the national salutations are representative of a country’s national identity and pride. They symbolize ancient heritage, current challenges and future aspirations. For soldiers, their sanctity is incontestable. Thousands of soldiers have sacrificed their lives to plant our tricolor on the enemy strongholds, thereby earning the ultimate honor of having their bodies draped in the national flag. Notes of the national anthem make every soldier get goose pimples. The response is instantaneous and the effect is electrifying. Even in their homes, they stand up with their families when the national anthem is played on TV during Independence/Republic Day ceremonies.

Similarly, national salutations like ‘Hindustan Zindabad’, ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ make adrenalin surge through their bodies. The salutations act as a rallying call to inspire the soldiers for the ultimate sacrifice. All military functions conclude with full-throated renditions of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. Therefore, the current controversy regarding national salutations is highly painful to the soldiers. They fail to understand as to how an Indian can have difficulty in hailing the country. How can ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ be assigned religious overtones.

And: History stands testimony to the fact that a nation infested with the virus of treachery, deceitfulness and perfidy has always been an easy prey for foreign subjugation. No one knows this bitter truth better than India. Yet, our leaders, media and intelligentsia keep discrediting and harming the country through their seditious utterances and activities. Under the garb of freedom of speech, they support those felonious speakers who vow not to rest till India is destroyed. When Paris was hit by the terrorist attacks, the whole country gave a unified response. Compare it with our Batla House encounter against Indian Mujahdeen where two terrorists were killed and two arrested. A brave police officer lost his life. Yet, many seditious elements had the impudence to term the encounter to be ‘fake’. Therefore, the mystery remains unsolved. Why does India continue to produce so many Jaichand and Mir Jafars? Is India a cursed nation or is treachery a part of our DNA? One wonders.

Demeaning & Demonizing : Hindu Identity

Before quoting some facts and figures, Let me put up a quessionaire.

  1. Why Bharat being Hindu majority nation, it is struggling for its identity?
  2. Why there are continious attempts, a kind of intellectual war is on to demean Hindu cultures, traditions, religious practices and temples?

For Indians who are aware of the anti-Hindu agendas of Christian, Islamic and Communist organisations in India and abroad, it is neither shocking nor surprising that numerous NGOs have sprung up throughout the country, which act as sole agents for these alien and hostile organisations. Most of these agents are mercenaries of alien masters, and that they are best described as Nehruvian secularists. The Macaulayan pat on the shoulder for submissive behaviour has been loyally sustained and well-absorbed by Nehruvian Stalinism, which describes the Nehruvian-Stalinist policy of sharing the loot among acolytes and relatives.

Imperialist agencies had been vigorously flourishing even after Indias so-called independence in 1947. This type of activity is generally designated as treason and is punishable by law, but on the contrary, we have seen that such behaviour is more than unsuitably rewarded with Government patronage, privilege and high position in society. Since year 2004 these activities gained momentum and support from the then Government to flourish Anti-Hindu agenda.

There are N number of media houses barking day and night in an attempt to demean and demonize Hindus and there culture, traditions. Any atrocity where Hindus or Hindu is a victim is down played under reported or not reported at all.

On the other hand when the victim belongs to another religion the atrocities are even imagined and treated as a Hero. It is a serious question that these so called bearers of Truth need to be asked: “Why does an injury to horse which was used by Police to crush a protest from BJP workers seems somehow more important and worthy of attention than the killing of a Hindus in Kerala on the same day?” Every week there is a news mostly from Kerala where Hindus are hacked to death mercilessly either allegedly by communist activists or Muslim fundamentals. Why they become blind to report atrocities against Hindus in kerala, west bengal?

what do these media houses think there duty is to tarnish the image of the country and make the majority Hindus demonized creatures throughout the world like Jews have been made in the Islamic world?

Attempts are being made to give an Impression that India under Modi is like Hitlerism. Attempts are being made to derail NDA government by raking up religious sensitive issues. To add salt to the injury, these same media men and women go on painting Hindu organizations as intolerant violent and some politicians and some self styled intellectuals equate them with barbaric and savage ISIS people.

Our media suppressing or misrepresenting tactics are being liberally used along with admonitions and ridicules of the Hindus, ‘Hindutva’, and the Hindu Dharma. At the same time, this secular section appears to support the anti-Hindu forces in the country, which are active with their alien and subversive ideologies. In essence, it has come to mean that ‘secularism’ is nothing but opposition to Hindus, Hindustan, Hindutva and the Hindu Dharma.”

JNU Professor or these communist mindset people recently claimed Hinduism to be the most barbaric religion of the world, in the name of research. These maggots should once visit Islamic nations and see how women and children are treated and sold there. To add salt, these same media men and women go on painting Hindu organizations as intolerant violent and some politicians and some self styled intellectuals equate them with barbaric and savage ISIS people. In the name of Documentary, BBC tried to tarnish India’s image in global community, labelling India as unsafe nation for women.

LIBERALS, Psuedo-Seculars and media houses are unable to find religion of terrorism, but same lot was quick to coin the word saffron terror. How many terror organizations have Hindus made and in how many terror attacks are Hindus involved around the world?

ANTI-Hindu brigade humiliate the brave Indian soldier or the principled pracharak knowing too well that the Hindus, frustrated or not, are not going to issue a fatwa against them, nor murder them like mad dogs on the street. People like Arundhati Roy, the self-proclaimed slave of the American empire, to Sandeep Pandey, the undercover Maoist, there appears a substratum throughout their anti-national claims that reveals their ulterior motives, Paid to spit the venom of hate and contempt. The process of maligining, tarnishing the image of Hindutva & Hindus dramatically increased as a result of the political success of Hindus, which was during the tenure of the BJP Government at the Centre.

BOLLYWOOD, If some people say bollywood is leading the march of Anti-Hindu brigade, that wont be wrong. Why there is a need to glorify Mughal invaders, when you have plenty like Maharana pratap, Shivaji , Rani Lakshmi bai. Presenting wrong facts and figures, insulting the great history have beome there habit. Recently Sanjay leela Bhansali tried to play and distort some historical facts, played with the sentiments of people, presented Alaunddin Khilji as hero and Rani Padmavati as his lover. Inviting the boil from rajputs. And finally Mr Bhansali tweeted about Hindu extremisim. O Sir you jus got slapped and you called termed Hindus as intolerant, extremist.

What else can the common man do? The dumbest argument ever. Borrowed from Arun Shourie who said that the best answer to oppose a book is another book. Imagine that I am offended by M F Husaain’s painting of Hindu Goddesses. What should I do? I should spend years mastering the art of painting and then defend my Goddess or offend his God/ Prophet! Worse still if I am offended by a film like PK. I cannot be just content with preparing a script defending my religion.

LORDS, have failed to again and again to understand the local customs and traditions and hence drawing protests resulting into loss of life and property. Organizations like PETA are trying hard to eliminate Hindu customs like Jallikattu, Kambala, Holi, Diwali etc in the name of animal cruelty and environmental issues. But they remain silent over mass killing of animals, new year celebrations etc. Is this selective outrage not questionable.

Can’t we hindus smell the conspiracy to demean and demonize our culture, tradition, nation.

Lets stand united against such forces, lets raise our voices, lets gain the focus.

Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah.

“Ya to Tiranga lehrakar aunga ya to Tirange main lipta chala aunga, par aunga jaroor” (Either I will be back after hoisting the flag or I will be back wrapped in it, but I will come back for sure). It takes this level of exemplary courage and unmatched confidence at a Warfield to battle out with enemy single-handedly. And what do you think, in the midst of such emotions, could be the answer to challenging enemy officer who says “Why have you come here Shershah?? You will not go back”?? This is what an Indian Army officer had to say to this moron- “We will see who remains at the top of the hill within an hour”. Param Veer Captain Vikram Batra, codenamed ‘Shershah’, was the one to give this confident reply. Captain Batra accomplished what he said and within an hour Batra and his men ran over craven-hearted Pakis to capture Point 5140 in the early morning of 20th June 1999. What follows here is a tribute to a gem we lost in Kargil War.

Born on September 9th, 1974 in Palmpur, Himachal Pradesh to Mr. G.L. Batra and Mrs. Jai Kamal Batra, Vikram proved to be a very intelligent and jolly personality in school. During his graduation days he decided to Join Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. He was very fascinated by the life of a soldier. He is believed to be of the view “A soldier lives by chance, loves by choice and kills by profession”. After his graduation he was inducted in Jessore Company of Manekshaw battalion of IMA. As a brilliant Gentleman Cadet (GC) in IMA he was commissioned in 13 Jammu Kashmir Rifles (JAK Rif). IMA days earned him a nickname ‘Shershah’ for all his courage and enthusiasm that he had.

The first task given to his company was of capturing Point 5140, strategically important for the Kargil Sector. Captain Batra decided to lead his team from the rear of the peak to take the enemy by surprise. As the team neared the hilltop they faced a stiff machine gun fire from the enemy. Undeterred by the enemy fire Batra and his men reached the top and blew up the mortar position by grenades. He himself killed three enemy soldiers in a close combat. He was injured during the battle but continued fighting until the last enemy soldier was finished. Motivated by the courage of their officer the troops fell upon the enemy and captured point 5140 at 3:30 a.m. on June 20, 1999.

“Yeh Dil Mange More” was the new war cry invented by Captain Batra in this War. After his interview with NDTV from his bunker in the Kargil sector this slogan became the symbol of unstinting valor and courage of the Indian Army. In the interview just after capturing point 5140 Captain Batra is seen relaxed and calm but still hungry for more success and victory over the enemy. Such are the men of the Indian Army for whom fear is the word unknown. In reply to a Pakistani’s taunt that we will leave Kashmir if Indians give them Madhuri Dixit, Captain Batra shot the taunter and said “From Madhuri, With Love!!”. His was a perfect reply to the morons and he made them pay for their deeds.

The victory on Point 5140 was precious and paved way for other valuable victories as on Three Pimples, Point 5100 and Point 4700. After his successful attack on Pt. 5140 Batra led his men to victory at point 4750 and Point 4875. While rescuing a fellow officer during the attack on Point 4875 he was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries. He was awarded Param Veer Chakra (posthumously) for his exemplary valor and bravery in the face of enemy.

We still remember the legend in our hearts and may god give such a strength to every child of this nation.

India lost 500 young brave soldiers with a median age 19 to 35 years. The grim-faced army officers receiving the coffins, draped in the tricolour, the carriage to the army parade ground.Â

So after 18 years of Kargil, we take a moment to remember the brave soldiers and Heroes who fought the Kargil War and died for the nation.

u5Uttarakhand, The Land of Gods, turned into the home of corrupts bureaucrats and a state of the failed governance. Harish Rawat, the man who failed to prove his administrative skills. He failed to make “corrupt” administrative machinery work or take action against the guilty to repose faith in the common man. A man surrounded by lickers, Chaploos and by the same set of bureaucrats and his close political aides who are not above board. Except for holding Cabinet meetings in Kedarnath, Gairsain and Almora to show pro-people image of his government working at the grassroots level and announcements of development and welfare schemes, nothing much has moved at the ground level. Most of the announcements are hidden in official files or forgotten.

Imapct of Harish Rawat

In recent years Uttarakhand has emerged as a failed state due to poor governance and babudom. CM Harish Rawat seems to be under certain pressure from top leadership of Congress, that prevented him from taking actions or bring culprits to justice and this is a matter to be discussed.

CAG Report over Natural Disaster of 2013

As per CAG report it was the Uttarakhand government’s slow response aggravated Kedar disaster that caused widespread destruction in five hill districts of the state and led to thousands of people being killed, and property worth hundreds of crores destroyed.

Uttarakhand had witnessed two major landslides in Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts in 2012 which had resulted in the loss of 92 lives. “Even at that time, the government had failed to take cognizance of the underlying risk factors and undertake corrective measures”. During the time of disaster the government machinery remained virtually clueless about the state of affairs in the affected areas and its response thereafter was grossly inadequate given the scale of destruction brought about by the disaster. District administration remained numb despite warnings issued by the Met department about the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall over the higher reaches of Kedarnath, Badrinath and surrounding areas.

Hands for Help

To mitigate the woes of the flood victims at Kedarnath, volunteers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) constituted an ‘Uttaranchal Dyvi Aapada Peeditha Sahayata Samithi’, which were actively involved in flood-relief works through its 10 offices set up at various affected areas.

These offices were set up at flood-affected areas of Haridwar, Rishikesh, Srinagar, Rudra Prayag, Rudra Prayag Phata, Agasya Muni, Badrinath, Chamoli, Joshi Math and Uttarakasi.

The samithi were actively involved in identifying people stranded in the flood-ravaged areas and evacuate them to safer destinations.

Digging out bodies by clearing the debris and performing last rites to them, setting up of rehabilitation centers with provision of food, shelter and clothing and conveying information of the pilgrims, both dead and alive, to their family members and relatives include their activities.

Vision less development of Himalayan Region

Uttarakhand Government’s vision less development in Himalayan Region was an open invitation for natural disaster. It is an open secret that unplanned urbanization, industrialization, and unscrupulous development plans are responsible for most of the human deaths and destruction of private and public property.

The Himalayan region is a sensitive zone, full of water bodies, forests and glaciers and common sense dictates that the local ecology be treated with care and caution. The mad mania for energy has led to damming of practically all water bodies – small or big. When excessive sand is removed from the river beds, it hampers river flow systems. Intensive mining in the region is turning it even more fragile. Mining activities are particularly dangerous because of the way they are organized. They are leased out and the contractors generally go beyond their limits, often as an organized corrupt practice in collusion with bureaucrats or politicians. There is no mechanism to control it.

Non-functional disaster management system:

Disaster management is a state subject. The Uttarakhand government has been honest to admit that it has been way behind the disaster preparedness standards laid down by the NDMA – this fact was also highlighted by CAG. It was a classic case of failure of a system that existed only on paper. It is nothing new in Indian bureaucracy; most things exist only on paper. The only problem this time was that the system was supposed to save human lives. The whole world watched how non-existent the disaster management chain of command was in Uttarakhand. Clearly people trained only to put papers into files and write report to complete office procedures (typical routine of government employees at all levels) couldn’t know what to do when the hill state was suddenly attacked by rains, floods and landslides that washed away ground transportation infrastructure and inclement weather that cut-off areal access to several remote regions. No wonder the only response they could count on was to blame the weather authorities – but that could not provide relief to people in eminent danger. What else Sarkari Babus could do!

But the disaster management authority in the state (SDMA) and other bodies with specific mandates under it were set up exactly to perform in such hopeless situations. They clearly proved utterly unprepared for the task. Their reactions reflected the hypothetical response of untrained and uninformed soldier at the battlefield.

But here is what the top-level disaster management system at the state level should look like:

“At the State Level the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), headed by the Chief Minister, lays down policies and plans for disaster management in the State. It performs the same duties as the NDMA at the national level. The State Disaster Management Department (DMD) which is mostly positioned in the Revenue and relief Department is the nodal authority. State Executive Committee (SEC), headed by Chief Secretary, will coordinate and monitor implementation of National Policy, National Plan and State Plan.”

Now, the DMD is suppose to have a functional Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) for information dissemination and to provide situational awareness to all government ministries and the public at large to aid coordinated response. In Uttarakhand, the NDMA was performing this role – it was releasing bits and pieces of information as and when it was available, possibly through the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

The EOC of Uttarakhand was also required to coordinate relief operations at the state level, ensuring suitable responses by various ministries such as defense, railways, food and supplies etc. But the non-existent EOC obviously could not perform.

Unforgettable Sins

Irony is such that till date many roads have not been reconstructed post 2013 disaster. There is still lack of communication network which are backbone of alertness during crucial hours. Lack of schools forced kids either to give up education or migrate from the region.

Forgetting all these Harish Rawat’s government engaged themselves in horse trading, to save the government. The 4 sting CDs, the scam in distribution of relief during 2013 calamity and the rape of a deaf and dumb inmate and her subsequent abortion at a government run shelter home for distressed women in the city are the black spots over Harish Rawat let Congress Government in Uttarakhand.

Sting Operations :

Uttarakhand is having a great opportunity to strongly hit back at those corrupt opportunist who made them suffer during disaster time, who are sole responsible for the loss of life and property in the state, who are sole responsible for the migration of people from state. People of state must challenge Harish Rawat led Congress government for all the sins they have committed in DEVBHOOMI.

It is the time for the people of state to stand united and

Well, finally people of Uttar Pradesh have got a chance to reply via Ballots. But the Big question is how to decide to whom I should vote. Whether should vote in accordance to Dalit Factor, Yadav factor or Development factor. So here I am going to present some facts, figures and Incidents which will surely help you to make your choice.

Poverty According to Tendulkar committee 29.43% population of Uttar Pradesh is below the poverty line. However according to Rangrajan committee it can be as high as 39.8% below poverty line. BY the way all India average is 21.92% but UP has surpassed this figure.

Despite these Crores of money was spent on building parks, memorials. Looks like for Akhilesh government there wasn’t much beyond Etawah and Saifai.

Infrastructure– Infrastructure condition in state is worst among big and progressing states in India. Thanks to Central government that funded Chaudhri charan singh airport Lucknow and Lal Bahadur Shastri airport Varanasi international airport. Bridges in UP are actually made halfway and roads are constructed with big potholes to collect rain waters. Lots of factories were shutdown. COD Crossing flyover is the best example, which started building in year 2004 and till date it is not completed yet.

Akhilesh government finally realized old tactics of goonies are not going to work any longer. CM Akhilesh inaugurated more than 900 development projects worth Rs 60 thousand crore in one day‎. But people will have to wait for months before they get any benefit from many of these projects, Since many of them are far from completion.

It started with the inauguration of the Agra-Lucknow Expressway on November 21. The inauguration made a big splash with fighter jets landing on the expressway but the expressway is yet to be thrown open to public. Those working on project say there is still a lot of work left before it can finally be opened for traffic.

Similar is the state the much publicised Lucknow Metro project. Though work on the project is going at fast pace, it will be months before the metro’s doors can be thrown open to the public. This, however, didn’t restrain UP CM, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and others to go ahead with its inauguration earlier this month.

Crime Uttar Pradesh tops the list of crimes under this bahubali government. When girls are raped, son-father duo make statements like “Ladke hein ho hi jaata hain”. There has been spike of forceful marriages and conversions commonly known as Love Jihad in western Uttar Pradesh. Love jihad has drained out all the love that existed between Hindus and Muslims. Of the more than 12,000 low-key communal incidents recorded in UP since 2010, nearly 15 percent are spurred by cases involving women: from alleged sexual violence to elopement. Uttar Pradesh has become a riot machine with this record.

Economic Downfall– Uttar Pradesh is the lowest among the traditional BIMARU states (Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and UP) in this regard during the past nine years i.e. during 2004-05 and 2012-13, according to an ASSOCHAM study although UP’s share in terms of contribution to Indian economy has remained highest during the aforesaid period its share has dipped from 8.8 % as of 2004-05 to 8.1 % as of 2012-13.

Agricultural downfall According to a study titled ‘States Emergence: A comparative analysis of growth & development,’ conducted by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) UP has acquired 15th position amid top 20 states in India with a mere 3.2 per cent compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) in agriculture and allied sector during the decadal period of 2004-05 and 2013-14.

Power sector Uttar Pradesh regularly experiences power crises because demand for electricity frequently exceeds supply significantly. Over the last 20 years power shortage has remained within the range of 10-15%, while shortages in periods of peak demand reaches at even higher levels. In 2013, even a gap of up to 43% opens up between the state’s demand and supply of electricity. As per figures presented in the Power Ministry’s review meeting in March 2014, the state’s projected demand for summer 2013-14 is 15,839 MW showing a gap of 6,832 MW. This results in poor and unreliable power supply with rampant power cuts and prolonged periods of low voltage. As a consequence industrial investment in Uttar Pradesh has been constrained, with industries preferring to locate themselves elsewhere.

Despite the center government provided adequate coal allocation to state in order to meet power shortage, State government failed to meet the demands.

Education– Uttar Pradesh has 58 universities in which 5 are central, 23 are state, 10 are deemed and 20 are private. With 1 IIM, 2 IITs and MNREC Akhilesh Yadav government makes sure that the UP citizens do not avail the full benefit of this framework and make sure that the literacy rate is below national average. UP is one of the backward states having literacy rate of just 69.72%with 29th place in India.

Uttar Pradesh also ranks high when it comes to private engineering colleges; many of them are fake or don’t have enough facility and infrastructure to provide education. Many students passed out as engineering graduates are forced to roam around with degrees in hand searching for job.

Uttar Pradesh is a very happening place, where every now and then crime is breeding. And here are few which have ruined the peace of the state.

2013 Muzaffarnagar riots: The clash between Hindu and Muslim communities has been described as worst violence in Uttar Pradesh. Supreme Court Of India  while hearing petitions in relation to the riots held the Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi Party, prima facie guilty of negligence in preventing the violence and ordered it to immediately arrest all those accused irrespective of their political affiliation. Court also blamed the then UPA-1 government for its failure to provide intelligence inputs to the Samajwadi Party-ruled state government in time to help sound alerts.

Moradabad: In Moradabad, police removed the loudspeaker from a Temple citing that it’s a Muslim majority area. Why is it okay for all the mosques in the Hindu majority area to play the azaan five times a day. Isn’t it a minority appeasement politics, isn’t it the same as Mamta Banerjee does in West Bengal during durga puja.

Kairana Exodus: According to the 2001 Indian census, 52% of Kairana’s population was Hindu and the remaining 48% was Muslim. In 2011, 68% of Kairana’s population was Muslims, and 30% Hindus. In June 2016, it was reported that only 8% of the population was Hindu and 92% were Muslims. And the result was plight of Hindus from Kairana. The NHRC Report had confirmed that 250 Hindu families had indeed left the town due to fear of the members of a particular community which was “majority in the area”. The report also confirmed youths belonging to the majority community (Muslims) were passing lewd remarks against the females of the minority community in the town. Due to this, females of the specific minority community (Hindus) were asked not to go out frequently and could not gather courage to report the matter to the police. The report also confirmed the terror of Mukim Kala which had committed at least 47 known cases of robbery, murder, dacoity, extortion and violation of the Arms Act in the 5-year period between 2010 and 2015. The report said the resettlement of over 25,000 members of the minority community in the aftermath of the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots had led to a major change in the demography of many towns in the region, including Kairana.

Women under attack in UP

Here are some of the disturbing and gruesome incidents of sexual violence that have gone under the radar of our Delhi-centric national media that prefers to obsess with cow vigilantism:

  • 7 rapes, including the gangrape & subsequent suicide of 40 year old ASHA health worker Somavati, were reported in a 2 week period in February this year. Accused in 6 cases were Muslims.
  • Molestation of a newly wed Hindu bride by 4 Muslims in Aligarh sparked fears of a Hindu exodus.
  • Hindu Dalit girl attempts suicide bid in Moradabad after rape attempt by Muslim SP leader’s relative
  • Minor girl gangraped & filmed by 5 Muslims in Moradabad, UP
  • Rapes, molestation and sexual harassment of girls contributes to exodus of Hindus from Kairana, Shamli

And I can go on and on describing the horrifying incidents, impact of minority appeasement etc. It is the time and opportunity for the people of Uttar Pradesh to eradicate the sufferings, reply them hard who played minority vote bank politics, Goonda Politics. This drama of family feud should be shown their place. Which has obstructed growth of UP for months. UP kisi ke Baap ki Jaigir nahi hai.

Just visit other states, you will figure out what Uttar Pradesh is lacking in terms of education, poverty, energy. Here by we must pledge to give a better UP to our future generations. A son or a daughter doesn’t have to leave his/her native for bread and butter. Let’s elect a government which believes in the Agenda of Development.

Remember Bharat cannot grow at full potential until Uttar Pradesh joins the race of Development.

Narendra Modi : The Chanakya of Bharat

Chanakya the Great, the renowned strategist, economist and advisor who is well known for its guidelines or neetis. He was the royal-advisor to the great emperor of Bharat Chandragupta maurya and his son Bindusara. It was due to Chanakya’s thought processing and execution, our bharat was at its peak during mauryan kingdom.

Time lapsed by and so our prosperity, ethics, values and ultimately our Identity. Corruption, sufferings, supressions, mis-governance, appeasement politics etc destroyed our nation systematically till 2014.

It was in year 2014 when Narendra Damodardas Modi became, The Prime Minister of India.

Narendra Modi, a self made man, once a RSS Pracharak in 1992 and now the pradhan sevak of bharat. Based upon my analysis over his political career from 1988 till date, I can say Mr Narendra Modi is adept in Chanakya neeti. You will find certain facts and figures supporting my statement.

Vishwanath Suvarna, 66, who worked with the Prime Minister-designate in Punjab for more than four years in the 1990s, says Modi’s politics is built on spirituality. “He does not believe in cheating to gain since he believes it is like cheating oneself. He is a fan of Swami Vivekananda,” says Vishwanath, who fondly addresses Modi as “Narender”.

Modi is a go-getter who wears his confidence on the sleeve. “He won’t rest till he gets what he has set his eyes on,” says Vishwanath, recalling an episode where Modi’s acumen came to the fore. A BJP member, Devender Gupta, contested the Chandigarh local bodies polls as an independent, leaving party members worried. A day before polling, Modi put up posters that declared Gupta had rejoined the BJP. Gupta lost.

“It was overnight kamaal. He is adept in Chanakya neeti and knows how to manage situations,” notes Vishwanath.

During his pracharak days in 1992, Modi burnt the midnight oil devising strategies to strengthen the RSS in Punjab. “The RSS was an unknown quantity in Punjab.

The Uri attack and the payback, all in a span of just 12 days, has proved Narendra Modi to be the ultimate modern-day version of Chanakya. That Uri was avenged even before the completion of the 13th day mourning ceremony of India’s 18 slain soldiers demonstrates a new resurgent India under the Prime Minister.

After an unexpected surgical strike to destroy Pakistan-backed terror launchpads on the other side of the LoC. Clearly, Pakistan was caught off guard as Modi showed himself busy with the usual and typical non-military response of India after the Uri attack.

The name and shame strategy worked well when India’s efforts at isolating Pakistan in the international community by getting external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj to tear Pakistan apart with her aggressive speech at the UN and getting Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Bhutan to withdraw from the SAARC summit in Islamabad – accusing the country of spreading terrorism.

Modi’s Balochistan masterstroke on Independence Day and talk about the Pakhtoons too being unhappy with Pakistan shows a deep understanding of the complex Pakistan situation. True, the Taliban, whether it’s the main Taliban or the Tehreek-e-Taliban of Pakistan (TTP), has risen mainly from the Pakhtoons.

Recently Mr Modi said, “Money accumulated by unfair means can survive only till 10 years and by 11th year is it destroyed along with interest.” He was referring to the 10 years of Congress rule.

Whether it be at International forum or domestic, this man knows the mantra to vibrate the chord of individual. Well renowned orator and statesman, proves him to be the modern day Chanakya, whose politics is build upon spirituality and nation before self.

Here are a few things you should know about Agni-5.

The indigenously-developed surface-to-surface missile, Agni-5, is capable of striking a target more than 5,000 km. It is about 17-metre long, 2-metre wide and has launch weight of around 50 ton. The missile can carry a nuclear warhead of more than one ton.

Unlike other missiles of Agni series, the latest one ‘Agni-5’ is the most advanced having some new technologies incorporated with it in terms of navigation and guidance, warhead and engine.

Lot of new technologies developed indigenously was successfully tested in the first Agni-5 trial. The redundant navigation systems, very high accuracy Ring Laser Gyro based Inertial Navigation System (RINS) and the most modern and accurate Micro Navigation System (MINS) had ensured the Missile reach the target point within few meters of accuracy.

India has at present in its armory of Agni series, Agni-1 with 700 km range, Agni-2 with 2,000 km range, Agni-3 and Agni-4 with 2,500 km to more than 3500 km range. After some few more trials, Agni-5 will be inducted into the services.

India joined the elite club of countries like US, Russia, the UK, France and China, which boast Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) capabilities, when it first tested the Agni-V in 2012.

Agni 5’s test launch is the first such missile test since India joined 34-nation Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) in July 2016. MTCR membership enabled India to buy high-end missile technology and also enhance its joint ventures with Russia.
